goals
This client wanted to:
-Create a space of her own that felt cozy and nurturing
-Have me handle errands
-Have me research and recommend online purchases
process
My time was 4 hours total.
Onsite, the client and I:
– Considered different rooms in the house to find a little space just for her
– Moved furniture to clear out a corner of the master bedroom
– Looked around the house for pieces that were her parents’ and grandparents’: a comfortable chair, footstool, hand-carved table, and alabaster lamps
– Looked through memorabilia for meaningful favorite items, and found her mom’s high school diploma, her parents’ passport photos, small paintings she bought in Harlem, photographs of her mom and grandma, and tabletop details and pillow that were her mom’s
For clients who are short on time and want more support, I can run errands and do online research. For this client, I:
-Researched and recommended online resources to purchase pillow insert, tabletop frames, cozy throw blanket, and Tiffany-style bedside lamps
– Took antique alabaster lamps to Harold’s Lighting for new shades and to have a harp repaired
– Had a zipper put in the vintage pillow at Westside Alterations, then removed stuffing, soaked the delicate sham in baking soda and water, hand washed and pressed the sham
– Took the diploma to Northwest Art & Frame for custom mounting in a pre-made frame
